Exactly. And the oil injection is also managed by the ECU, leading to oil savings and less carbon deposits around the spark plugs that was a problem with some older 2-strokes using low-quality oils...

The latest 2 stroke tech is simply a last gasp effort to meet government guidelines regarding emissions. It is very unproven at this point. Why even bother with it when a four stroke offers so many advantages?

They still offer a favorable cost for performance and a good power-to-weight ratio, alongside an easier maintenance. This is why even some older design carburetor-fed 2-stroke outboards can still be found.

My last two 2 stroke motors (150HP and 200HP) both had oil injection. No mixing. Next boat will be 4 stroke for sure though. The difference in smelling the exhaust is amazing... plus you aren;t dumping oil into the combustion chamber and into the water.

The exhaust still gets pumped out through the water. Burnt oil and gas is still worse than just burnt gas.

For a 25HP I'd go with a 4 stroke. If you were looking at 200+HP you'd want to look into 2 strokes.

I trust your opinions, it's just that they are all differing. I like the ease, low maintenance, power and weight of the 2stroke but I like the not having to always top off the oil aspect of the 4stroke. Also, 4 out of the 5 close neighbors on the lake are running Honda 4strokes. They all seem to be happy with them. So I am still up in the air.

Two strokes are great if you plan on running them often. My poor little 90 horse (yamaha) flats boat doesn't get the love it should. School & Work don't give me much time to go work on it or even use it

The E-tec are suppose to go 3 yrs or 300hrs without any maintenance.
