Do the next gen F150 won't weight a few hundred pounds more than its competitors?
I'm not too worried about being able to fix dents with aluminum. Sheetmetal on vehicles has gotten so thin that they're disposible anyways. GM's is really bad, my trucks hood would push in going down the highway.
We can already see displacement going down with the 5.0 and EcoBoost and the Gen V SB is supposed to run small displacements than III/IV. I'm not too picky (hence my current V6) as long as it can get out of its own way with decent passing power and the ability to catch holes in traffic.

Aluminum is not so bad at all...
My 03 has an aluminum hood and the rear fenders are fiberglass.

And as these trucks get lighter.. their towing capacities will have to be lowered... you cant haul 10,000lbs safely with a 3500 lbs truck... LOL.

Fiberglass is a good way to save weight in a vehicle. Light, easy to repair, doesn't rust away and when proccessed correctly is not so fragile as some people still think.

How about they round those corners and make the body smaller? That would save weight and increase aerodynamics.

That would be an effective measure. But a smaller body is something I wouldn't expect for an upcoming Ford truck in the American market after the phaseout of the Ranger.
