A little helpful info for my fellow high performance exhaust junkies.
P0430=Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
What does that mean?
Basically this means that the oxygen sensor downstream of the catalytic convertor on bank 2 is detecting that the converter is not working as efficiently as it should be (according to specs). It is part of the vehicle emissions system.
Symptoms
You will likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a rough/hard idle when cold.
So you can look all of this up yourself and drive yourself crazy looking for an exhaust leak, changing out your O2 sensors or possibly even replacing your catalytic convertor. But that will still will not cure your problem, only add to your frustration. The root of the problem is your Headers and High Flow Cats, or lack of cats all together. This free flowing system doesn't allow the heated O2 sensors to come up to temp. Therefore popping the P0430/ P0420 codes showing a lack of efficiency in the catalytic convertors.
Solution=***( Only perform this action on off road or race vehicles. Not an authorized repair for street vehicle.)***
Purchase some O2 simulators from site. I got mine from Big Daddies Garage. Here. For $30 I got 2 simulators and installed them, cleared the codes and have not had them return. With the cooler weather I had been getting the P0430 code every other ignition cycle. So far so good, no codes and I'll keep you posted if I do start getting codes again. At this point I'm pretty confident I'm set.
