God Forbid anyone ever wash the underside of their truck. My truck has been in New England and PA all its life. PA uses so much brine it is disgusting. If you dontwash the underside of your ride they will rot so fast your head will spin. I heard about this recall and took a look at mine. They are solid as a rock. When I dropped my fuel tank to change the pump the straps came down easily. It was a nice surprise.

I have seen a lot of vehicles from all makers that had tank straps break. I am really surprised to see this as a recall. Of well. If mine go bad I will bring it in for a free set.

They really need to start making the owners responsible for maintenance. What few times I've driven where there is salt I rinse the underside off as soon as I get home. How long until they recall engines for seizing because people don't change their oil?

I don't think washing the straps that hold your fuel tank to your vehicle is something that would be considered maintenance.

This is a manufacturing defect plain and simple. My 2001 Crown Vic had straps holding the tank and they were not rusted at all when I had to throw a fuel pump in it. And the car was used as a patrol vehicle in northern Illinois for 90K then brought to MN for another 50K.

And I would usually wash my vehicle at the fire station...and I didn't get on the dirty floor and spray the underside of the car.

I'm not the most experienced on corrosion because it doesn't happen down here anything more than surface rust on a car less than 20 years old is unheard of. Just seems like some preventive care could prevent this.

Washing your ride in general is maintenance. You can go through a car was for 5 bucks that washes the undercarriage. When I was looking for a new truck I always looked at the undercarriage. It was Obvious who washed the underside and who didn't. Rust knows nno brand or material. There are no late 80's toyotas with beds in maine. They all have flat beds because the rust along a pinch weld and the bed sides fall off. Toyota did not have to recall them. Toyota did have to recall almost all there trucks from the mid 90's though. Again. I know people who never washed their trucks and the frames rotted and broke. Then there were people who did wash their trucks and they did not get recalled.
