Need advice on my truck search....

It does have the 5.4L in it. Guy said it has never been offroad, his daughter drives it and she wants something different. Should I be concerned with the mileage?

The mileage wouldn't bother me for the year. One issue though is since it is lifted with that many miles on it what would be a concern in the way of suspension issues? Not familiar in that area but for the drive train is should be fine.

I don't know much about Fords but looks like a good deal.

I need a truck for hunting and hauling things on the farm. The lift would help driving through the fields. We have an old diesel for pulling the heavy loads. I don't want to spend over 8 grand on a vehicle. Plus I have always wanted a lifted truck. If I buy one that isn't lifted it never will get lifted, I just don't have that kind of money for extra "mods." Plus the wife thinks I'm crazy for wanting a lifted truck.

I would avoid almost any used lifted truck.

Check the wheel bearings in the front. They are sealed hubs. They are 4-500 to replace if you do it yourself. Check the rear stud on the exhaust manifolds. It is pretty common for them to break. They can be a PITA to replace. It would not stop me from buying it but these are all haggle points. Crawl underneith. look for mud in hard to wash areas like on top of components and frame rails. If there is large amounts of mud you will know he is lieing about it never being wheeled. Thornbirds are TERRIBLE tires. I would expect to replace those. They sound horrible, look ugly and suck in the mud. Take it for a ride and see how the trans shifts. Ask about gearing. See if he regeared it for the tires. I have not but its a bonus for you if he did. Check the bottom of all four doors for rust. That is a common rot area that is not easily seen because of the door panels. Also check around the front mount for the radiator support. They can also rust there if the truck was not washed after winter storms.

I also would avoid a 136K 4.6 or 5.4 engined truck. Love Ford or hate Ford, the modular engines are not known for extra long life.
