I found that little nugget when I replaced my original TG spoiler with a flush mounted model. Thanks GM!

For the record I got the same thing under the plastic cap on my tailgate. Maybe its a part of manufacturing. I'm thinking thats why they put those caps on is to cover the holes made during assembly.

Well what ever the reason I was shocked when I pulled the cap off and saw all of the holes.

Yeah, I had heard there were holes under there before I replaced the cap on my Denali. I was expecting screw-holes or something, not "I've seen more solid Swiss Cheese!"

We should be prepared for the day the trucks will come with an all-plastic pickup bed...

I will not prepare myself for that. It is unexceptable.

It should not happen, but with all that pussification of the auto industry this is just a next step.

But if I would go with anything but sheetmetal for a pickup bed I would go still old-school enough, with wood.

It has already been done. GM had the PROTEC composite plastic bed for several years in the GMT 800's, and Toyota's beds are all composite on their Tacomas. The claimed weight savings and "durability" will hit all manufacturers some day.
