Well good news. After finding a programming procedure on the ford forum, I printed it, wrote the VIN and 5 digit code and the dealership was successful at activating the handle. It now locks and unlocks the doors. No more going back inside for the keys when I forget. I'll be pulling it out over this weekend and shipping it and the other handles to be painted.

Once warmer weather comes around I will test fit my 06/08 bumper and if all is good I will take that, and my mirror caps to be painted, along with a blasted rear bumper.

Progression still going, slowly but going.

I like the look of your truck man. always real clean and simple.

Thanks!

Darren, are you doing it with Nick's Painter? You know Nick got Perma-Banned right?

Anyways, congrats on the programming

Not sure if you know, but I found out that after entering your unlock code you can press the "3-4" button to unlock the passenger side too. Also, when the key is in the ignition the doors won't stay locked if you use the interior door panel switch to lock them. You have to hop out and press the 7-8 and 9-0 buttons at the same time to lock it when it is running or with the keys in the ignition.

Yep I knew all that already, owners manual states it and my 2001 Lariat was the same setup too. I leave my keys in the ignition and lock through the handle the majority of the time, mostly quick stops. Mall, shopping, overnight, I take the keys out.

Update 4/5/11:

Took the door pad handle back off, took mirror covers off, took to get them all PTM. Will post painted pics in a day or two.

Also Jeff, might as well remove your caps and take them to a local painter. I researched hard and Ford does not offer the front 1 piece covers alone for sale with a part # let alone the 2 piece skull cap style, they make you buy an entire new mirror. And I did not want to fiddle with the wiring for '07+ mirrors ( though hooking up power folding and puddle lamp would have been cool ). 05redFX4 on the F150online forums told me he went abut 75mph with his mirror caps off and they were fine so I decided to chance it ( just mentally worried about damaging something ), well after today I can report that driving in the rain, getting a little mud spatter from the Toyos, and some snow fall this morning, the mirrors still work fine. Ford tough maybe?

Looks ridiculous though for sure. I feel people aren't pointing like "look at that truck!" more like "wtfs with those mirrors?" :uhoh:
