receiver hitch? Shanin's thread reminded me I have been wanting to ask this question.

It drives me nuts when people leave their hitch in constantly. It's an accident waiting to happen. IMHO

I always have mine in my truck, but I remove at the same time I remove my trailer.

My draw bar is under my seat at all times unless hooked up to a trailer.

Mine is ALWAYS on. Im sorry it may be a hassel... but I rather chance a knee knocker than somebody rear ending me and going right under my truck. I leave it in for safety reasons.

If you don't remove them up here in the salt, they rust in place FAST!

Plus I don't like walking into them.

Well I can understand that reasoning. But, you are in the minority. Most trucks are not 4 stories high:D2 and that's not a concern. I'm not saying there are not some legit reasons.

We always remove it (the Ram is the truck that tows. The Ford doesn't have one on it, on purpose). It stays safely stored under the back seat with the locks, etc.

We left it on once, and guess who walked right in to it? You'll never guess! Me

I'm pretty sure my hitch would scrape when I back out of my driveway, so I remove it.
