That midland will do, yo don't need anything fancy, yes you'll need an antenna, the one you posted will suffice.

We had small setup like that in our bronco for road trips. It worked well for us.

I have the K40 antenna on my truck and it works well. I'd imagine the K30 should be work just a well

The antenna length needed will depend where you mount it so have a place in mind first IMO. I had a 3ft first but needed a 4th since it was close to the cab

well it will be right behind the cab, but there is very little electronics in the cab, and very little on the entire truck, radio, ignition, headlights, taillights, and electric fan is all it has...

It's about the metal of the cab more than the other electronics. If you have a tool box I'd suggest putting the mount on the side of the box and not between it and the cab which helps

I used to just set mine up in the center of the cab. Since it is magnet mount, put it up when you need it, take it off when you don't. Just route the cable out the door channel.
