Josh if you are going to order something look at this setup, genuine GM studs and nuts.

11589154 GM Stud- for header install 1.12 (pk of 5) GMPD
11609746 GM Nut- for header install 0.86 (pk of 4) GMPD

Those are GM part numbers, GMPD is gmpartsdirect.com, but other places stock them too.

Are these the same as the stock units? I'm concerned for using the same quality, due to the fact of discovering 2 bolts popping the heads already.

In a way, yes they are the same as stock. But these are studs with nuts as opposed to bolts like our trucks come with. Exhaust manifolds bolts are in an extreme environment so there isn't any bolt that is going to work perfectly all the time. These studs and nuts will make life easy on you, they won't back out and get loose over time either and they are much cheaper than a set of lock bolts. I have used them all and I'm very impressed with these studs and nuts.

Ordered them last night. Kind of crappy though, GMPD didn't really assign any shipping info. Really need to get them in hand so I can finish this install. The hobby shop is cheap, but it still isn't free.

Hopefully they get to you sooner than later, they are usually pretty good about shipping.

I have been told that headers on a 5.3 give hp but you lose low end torque. I thought that the curve for a 5.3 was mostly flat from 2-4 thousand rpm.

So which is it

Yeah I lost a little low end when I installed mine but I made that back up when I installed the blower.

update: not happy with GMPD. Took them 3 days to get the parts into shipping status via DHL. gave me hope. then today, its shipped via USPS priority. meaning, at least 3 weeks if the studs/nuts combo i found at checkers dont work. why 3 weeks? because the next 2 weeks i'm out to sea, and only back in on the weekends.

Man that sucks, usually they are pretty good about shipping. I have only had a couple of times where they screwed around. But it's still cheaper than going to the dealership.:(
