What carb is on it now? I'm assuming it's a 2 barrel? If it is, you really have a few options.
1. Rebuild what you have
2. Buy a stock replacement/reman carb
3. Good chance there is an adapter plate available to go to a 4 barrel.
4. New intake
If I were replacing a carb on a relatively stock motor that's a daily driver, I would go with aCarter AFB something arou d the 625 cfm range.

I like Edelbrock carbs, but isn't 625 kinda big? I would think more like a 450 to 500.
I've used adapter plates before and you couldn't give me one as a paper weight.
If you go with a 4 barrel, save your money and get a manifold.
That being said, running a dual plane intake you can get by with a lot bigger carb. I wouldn't run smaller then a 500 in that style of carb.
