As a lot of you know, the wife and I took a trip in the Mustang over the weekend. We put a little over 700 miles on the car. With the new engine we kept changing the speed as recommended for the break in period. Did the same with the pickup and still find myself doing that, but for longer periods.
The car's ride is nice and it handles amazingly. It's an adrenaline rush taking 50 mph turns at 75 and 80. The steering ratio is really tight. Any movement of the steering wheel is immediately transferred to the road.
The V6 is a strong motor and very responsive. When Diane jumped on the gas pulling out of a rest area I could feel the front end rise up and squat in the rear. Reminded me of my muscle car days. We got just over 25 mpg with the speed fluctuating and mixed with city driving.
The only complaint I have is the road noise. You can hear the tires humming at freeway speeds. The stock exhaust is really quiet, so I'm thinking if we go with aftermarket it will help hide it.
The Shaker stereo is really nice. Car thumps pretty good from the speakers. I got hooked on Sirius radio during the trip. The Sync is a nice hands free system. Voice activating phone calls, weather reports, road conditions, GPS and some other stuff I don't remember is a definite plus.
Some of the little things it does is open the windows a 1/4" when you open the doors. They close when the door closes. Makes it very easy to open and close the doors. The outside mirrors have little 'Blind Spot' mirrors that really come in handy, but I still turn to make sure I'm clear. The trunk is plenty big. In fact when buying the car, I looked at the trunk and never bothered to look at the engine. The inside rear view mirror is self tinting when hit by headlights. Takes some getting use to this. But it's nice that it goes back to regular view when there's no cars behind you. And although it doesn't look like it, there is plenty of room in the back seats.
Overall we are very happy with the car. We took it in to the stealership today to have the Guide Point stolen vehicle recovery system installed, the alarm system upgraded to an Anti-Theft and had the paint and interior treated.
I told Diane the car would look great if we lowered it 1" in the front and 2" in the rear, tinted the windows and put some black wheels on it. She gave me on of 'Those Looks' and asked why can't I leave stuff alone. It's a no for now, but I did put the bug in her ear.
