This is just a place to keep track of all I have done and will be doing on the truck. Most of you have seen it but hell. More pics can't be bad.
1985 Silverado C20 (3/4 ton) dual tanks, A/C worked, immaculate interior, no rust except small surface rust, camper special (made to haul over the cab campers). Factory everything. Even the radio is original, not cut out like most to house a CD player. 350 engine/400 trans/4.10 gears.
I bought this truck and after I fixed it, I traded it to Dad for his 86 short wide. After I poured money into that truck, I traded him back for this one. Here's the thread to that truck.

Bought the truck for $800.00. Kid wanted $500, but he had 30 calls in one day and I offered him 800 cash in hand. The engine was "knocking" and he was right, had a spun bearing. The truck had also been rear ended and had a salvage title.
Got it home, had to cut the bumper off the back with a saw zall, then pulled the bed off and straightened the frame rail, which was tweaked just a little right at the end by the bumper. Secured another bumper (free) from an Uncle. Put the bed back on and put the bumper on.
Pulled the engine. Tore it down, took the crank in and got it re-done, had the block boiled, honed, and new cam bearings installed. Cleaned the heads all up, bought new pistons, new accessories like oil pump, water pump, fuel pump, plugs, wores, dist cap and rotor, belts, got an aluminum intake off Dad and installed it, got rid of the EGR and smog shit, (this was a california truck) and saved it incase I go to sell it. Had the Q-jet carb rebuilt and re-jetted by my Uncle. Went back with stock mainfolds, and a wore out Flowmaster.
This truck is a blast to drive. Sits up high, rides smooth, rebuild engine purrs nicely, and the fact that EVERYTHING works is so nice. Power windows needed greasing but now they slide like a champ. power door locks work too. Replaced all the A/C components and it will freeze you out. We also replaced the smaller radiator with a big ass 4 core Rad. I know this is not the sought after short wide lowered hotrod truck most seek out, but I had that and I can appreciate this truck for its uniqueness and it still being able to do what it was designed to do. And thats tow and haul heavy baby. Pics.
Pics from southeasttexas.com, the website that I first saw the truck on. These are the pics that made me want the truck.

Trucks back to back.
The sliding back glass the truck had was swapped out for a solid. Its too easy to break into those old sliders. The reason it had a slider, is because of the camper it hauled around. They had a sort of sleeve that would mate the cab and the camper together, to allow it to be cooled and heated.
This truck did have a camper on it, we can tell because 1. the bottom of the bed floor has a silicone ring all the way around it inside the bed, this sealed the camper, and 2. the tailgate had latches to lock it from the inside, preventing anyone from getting into your camper.
Plans:
1. Take the wheels off, have the old tires removed from them, as well as weights and valve stems. Then take the wheels down to metal and have them professionally painted the correct white again. Then have the new tires put on.
2. new front bumper and maybe a new grille.
3. Headers and some duals, not crazy about the stock manifolds.
4. Start the paint work baby. The imperfections in this body are small. I'll buy a gallon of primer for the painter, have him do all the bodywork and get her smoothh, and then she'll go back with the factory red. I'll save all the aluminum trim pieces, and replace the chrome plated plastics, which have faded.
5. Maybe a new windshield. This one isnt that bad.
Possibly swap in some 3.73's for the 4.10's, get that rpm down a bit.
Oh yeah, and finish buffing it. Heres what I started the other day, but its been too cold to finish.
