Ok its taken me awhile to finish everything and gather pictures but here I am. Officially done with everything! Some may have followed my progress and the troubles I had along the way but with help from you guys and Clancy especially I can say no more worries! A little history, my grandparents bought the truck new in 96 to tow their travel trailer, its a K2500 with the 454, and then they bought a 2002 Avalanche with the 8.1 so this truck then sat in the backyard for 5 years until I started driving and they gave it to me for 16th birthday, it had 60K on it when I got it and now it has 95k.

Last May I snagged a complete whipple kit off ebay and then started ordering parts here and there. Didn't get to start doing the install until summer break began in June and then from there only got to work on it off and on in one week intervals when I would travel home when I had time off from work over here at the campus. I used the 1.6 whipple kit, 42lb Ford racing green top injectors, a Walbro 255 pump, tune by Westers, Autometer boost/tranny temp/wideband AFR gauges, addded a Mag Hytec diff cover and Derale high capacity tubed tranny pan, and replaced many normal maintenance pieces here and there.

Got rid of my bent 20's at the same time and put on 265 BFG mudders on my factory GM Pyos, lowered my torsion bars and got it all realigned. I had problems with the fuel pump because I bought the wrong one originally and tried to make it work, and it didn't. Had trouble replacing the injectors, had to modify and idler pully on the kit and a tensioner pulley that rubbed the new belt, bashed a hole in my radiator, and after everything was done and I thought I was in the clear, I had the missing problem on the number 1 cylinder which after replacing every little part I could think of found out the electrical connector that contacted the number 1 injector was coming loose, replaced the fuel rail wiring harness and now everything is perfect.

I swore excessively, got scraped up and bled pretty bad a few times, broke things I didn't need to and had to replace them, got so frustrated that I almost gave up on the whole project all together, and altogether in everything I did since May dropped over 5 grand into the truck. But, I got to hang out and work on it with good friends, got to spend lots of good quality time with my grandfather, drink lots of beer, gain lots of knowledge and experience, and supercharged the truck that I have loved since the day I turned 16 and now I have a memory of the whole thing that I will never forget. Now here are just some of the pictures I took along the way.

A 30ish roll to 75, a 5 to 75 run, and just cruising and stabbing the throttle to give an idea of how loud and crackly glasspacks are. Can't even hear the blower when the window's down. Shes still no Corvette but definitely quicker than before. Speedo is a little off, forgot to have it readjusted for my new tires when I got my Westers tune. At the top of second it shifts at almost 80 but in the videos it shows it shifting at just over 70 so its a little behind.

Very nice, it makes it even cooler knowing it was your grandfathers truck and he gave you a hand working on it. Not many young folks spend that time with their parents or grandparents anymore. My hat's off to you, job well done.

Thanks! my grandpa has always been the father I never had. Always lived a mile or two away from me and I hang out with him all the time and when I'm across the state at school I talk to him every week. Hes still really young for a grandpa so him and I are always out and about doing cool stuff. Like supercharging trucks.

My grandpa and me used to tear up the world. We have had some real good times, unfortunately Alzheimers has set in and he doesn't even know who I am. Hurts pretty bad to see him like that but I will always remember all the fun times we had together.

Enjoy it, it will make you a better person.

Nicely done!

Where did you find the S/C?

Ebay! It was a complete kit. The seller had sent the entire kit back to Whipple for them to check it out. The compressor checked out and they even bagged and sealed all the parts and labeled them with whipple stickers and all. Instructions were very vague though. Complete kit, bad instructions.
