............ that's what school/work/life/ not having internet does for ya eh? So, i made a life changing decision to sell my bike yesterday. i just posted it on craigslist. And with the money (if it sells) i'm looking at buying rims/tires, audio system, and my headache rack. But heres the thing... i want to get general grabbers (red lettering), and they only come in 285's or 33's. Will those fit without a lift?

Well I know on the 99-07's that 285 mudders will fit without a lift or crank. Shouldn't be a problem

The 285's will fit and you may need to crank a bit. You can run 33's but they will be stuffed and you will need to crank or they will rub. If you want 33's I'd lift it whether it be a 2" block and crank a shit load (Cranking that much will more than likely wear out front end parts faster) or a 3" body lift. The BL will expose the frame quite a bit and you will need the bumper relocation kit + gap guards or it will look awful. Or you can 6" lift and run 35's .

Here's a RC 3" lift so that you can run 33's. http://www.roughcountry.com/chevy_4wd_88-98_2-3.html

And a pic of a truck that has it running 33's. Way better than a BL imo. I will probably get this lift in the future so that I can still fit it in the garage vs a 6in lift.

3" Body Lift on 315's. Exposed Frame looks like ass. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-7810013/?image=large

Can't find a pic of 33's at stock height right now I'll try again later. If you've got anymore questions you can pm me or look through these threads.

A 3" suspension lift doesn't sound bad. I wonder how it would look on stock rims (in terms of backspacing) since most guys run a tire that has less backspace with a lift.

Tyler, do you know of any pics of trucks at stock height running 285/70R17's?

265/75R16 (stock size) is 31.6" in diameter
285/70R17 is 32.7

Will the 1.1" difference make that big of a difference for clearance?

I'll see if I can dig up some pics and pm them to you but they will easily fit cranked level.
285/75/16's fit easily with the fenders level and the 285/70/17's are the same radius and diameter so there isn't any difference except the rim size.

Edit: The only thing that may make them rub is the backspacing of the rim but since the 17's you got are factory wheels they should work fine.

Here's my GMT400 Tahoe on 285's with the torsion bars cranked about 1". I also did a 1.5" add-a-leaf on the back since it had sagged quite a bit, more for appearance since I wouldn't have needed it otherwise for clearance. I am pretty sure the photo is prior to the add-a-leaf.
