So, Matt... What you're basically saying is "we'll have to wait & see" which is what us "bickering" folks said last night.. Right?? :jester:

Yes.

I missed out of the fun last night so just pretend that the time stamp on my comment was 10 hours earlier and all is right in the world :D

:drinking:

No problem, man! I was just yankin' Jim's chain a bit, for the most part.. But, I was expecting better fuel economy #'s, after some of the "we saw 28 MPG" b/s I saw reported in different places.

Oh well! It is what it is! :dunno:

Who says it has to be a "rule?"

You tell the public it has V8 power and great fuel economy, I (as "the public") expect better than 1 MPG better.. If they're going to charge more for it and it's not going to save me much money at the pump, what's the flippin' point?

The extra price they're going to charge for it, they might as well have stuck a bunch of battery packs in it, labeled it a "hybrid," said we were saving the planet, and been done with it! :jester:

:werd:

We will have to wait for real world results this summer/fall.

My thinking is this... If you're going to get Dennis Leary to do one of his "Okay?!" spiels in your commercials about "best in class" this, "you don't have to order your engine from the kid's menu anymore" that.... and you boast about this new engine and how it's supposed to "change" things with best in class towing, fuel economy, etc.. It just seems like it should deliver a little more than one MPG better..

As I said last night, is it a move in the right direction? Sure.. But, the MPG change wasn't the leap the rest of the engine seemed to be for V6 power, torque, etc.. :dunno:

I know some other manufacturers (I believe Honda is one of them - not in the Ridgeline) have different "modes" the car can be tuned for.. You select "normal" and it is well.. "normal." Generic settings for around town driving.. You put it in "sport" mode and it selects a different set of tables for fueling and throttle response.. and the car is more peppy, but drinks more gas.. You put it in "econ" and it becomes a gutless wonder, but you're saving on gas..

I know "big, manly TRUCK" drivers *ME BEAT CHEST NOW.. ME PICK THINGS UP.. ME PUT THEM DOWN* would say they don't "neeeed" a system like that. They don't "caaaare" about the environment and how much they spend on gas. Well, IMO, if Ford (and others) could take a queue from Honda and do more with the "tow/haul" mode than just change some shift points to keep it in each gear longer.. Maybe they could achieve some of these crazy CAFE standard fuel economy #'s the govt wants..

If they can't / don't / won't do that... You can bet the HP wars will be over and something the size of a Colorado will soon become "the BIG truck GM is selling, unless you want a 3/4 ton or one ton." :dunno:
