I have to say though, my "5k" 35w don't look anywhere near that blue. My high beam "5k" 55w look more like yours. The higher wattage is supposed to be whiter, not a different shade entirely.

Do you remember the article about DDM being accused of using 2 bulb color temps? I'm starting to wonder if that is true.

As much as i like HID's, without projectors, they are way to blinding for the other poor drivers on the road. Dont feel like being the ass responsible for causing an accident because im blinding everyone else coming the other way.

There have been many cars utilizing HID's without projector setups. The GMT800 Excalades, 2nd Generation G35's, etc. have all done it. Aiming appropriately matters a lot and is often something overlooked by a lot of those that upgrade to HID's from halogens.

Looks good man! After I put mine in, I told myself I will never own another vehicle without HID's. The difference in visibility is amazing. I too aimed mine and they don't blind other drivers.

This is very true. I was told that the lenses I bought were the best for the GMT-400's. I've also seen Civic's and other cars with large round headlights that are just terrible. I've been blinded even sitting up in my Silverado.

It is definitely worth while to investigate lenses on forums before you buy and install HID's.


Hey Tobias, just looked at your Fog Light mod. Very nicely done and a HUGE difference. That's a really stupid bulb GM used in the fogs.

Carl i hope you mounted the ballasts in a cool location, mine didn`t last a week under the hood.

highly suseptable to heat, they need to be located in a cool location.

i mounted them onto the batteries of my superduty and they were shot within a week.

talking to DDM the raptor ballasts are built far more robust, the slims are mostly for compact applications like motorbikes atvs etc.
