I have no idea why they don't make that engine. Do they think people wouldn't buy the gas versions anymore? I bet they would sell that crap out of those things.

My guess is cost. I highly doubt there would be much of a cost difference between a 4.5 diesel and a 6.6 Max (and Al).

I think it will go the way of the Ford 4.4 diesel. It looks good on paper and tons of people will buy it, but I just don't think it will be mass produced.

I'd bet you are 100% right. There isn't much (if any) difference in cost just because the displacement is a little smaller. Still have to engineer and produce all of the parts.

I don't think it would sell in any real numbers anyway. MOST Americans are not interested in diesels (it has been proven time and time again) and a little better fuel economy isn't going to sway them. If that was the case the Ford and GM trucks would not be the top selling vehicles...
