Thanks guys.

Zembonez: I plan on rebuilding it for my future 60-66 gmc truck. LOL It wont be as far away as you might think.

CJ: I plan on the whole thing being Chevrolet Orange.

Nubuilder: All I know basically right now is the V6 has a much deeper block, and the bore of the V6 is 4.25 in (bigger than a 350's 4.00 in bore) and much bigger than the 305 V8's bore of 3.73 bore. The stroke is longer with the V6 being 3.58 and the 305 V8 being 3.48.

Texas Jim-thats cool, I saw on another forum the other day a couple of those big buses with the same engines

Heres a pic of a rebuilt one.....From what I've been told the plaid valve covers were factory. Thats not too strange as carmakers back then did stuff like that....lots of the old plymouths had their whole trunks covered in that stuff

Thanks for the quick lesson!

That engine looks pretty good. It would definitely be unique if you could find or do rocker covers like those.

I'm not too big on the plaid myself.....If you look on the top middle of the valve covers the letters GMC are almost lost in it, I'll probably go orange or satin black....

I didn't even notice that!
Could you do the covers in orange and just the GMC in black?

Yep prolly could, just spray the orange, then lightly scuff the letters and hand paint them black....good idea!
