Well, like anything else with a gasket, its mandatory to replace it when you remove something that presses against it.
Thanks for the advice Jim!
I do have one other symptom to add:
If I push the clutch in and it remains at a high idle, then rev the engine up (not sure how high I have to go yet), it idles down right away. I usually just jam the pedal to the floor quick and let up quick...how high it goes varries.
You would be surprised at the people that try to reuse a gasket that is obviously no good...
Oh I've seen it done before.
I don't know your level of ability.so I was kinda making a joke about the gasket, while at the same time...making sure you KNEW to get a new one...
I was making a joke too
Look around your throttle body and find the accelerator cable.
Unhook it from the throttle body and gently push it in and out...it will move the accelorator on the inside of the truck.
FEEL it to see if there is any binding or roughness
"AT ALL" in the cable.
It may be a STRANDED cable and one of the wire strands may have broken and is catching on the
"INSIDE" of the cable...thus not letting it idle back down like it is supposed to.
That is a very interesting and good idea. I would've never thought of it. I'll see if I can do it tomorrow (I gotta do a little thing called "work" tonight
)
It is possible that when you stomp the gas and let it POP back up...it don't bind..
Also work the throttle body when the cable is off...
"FEEL" for any rough spots when you move the butterfly.
It cold also be binding a little...
Just another thought on something else to check..
I'll check that too.
