Which brand tune up stuff is better for older Fords?

your probably looking at a stuck valve there,,,is it carbed or fuel injected?

I'm with Doug and Jim on this. I ALWAYS go oem on plugs but if I can't get wires I go with some from napa.

It is a Fuel injected.

i was going to say..if its carbourated theres an old trick to un-stick a valve...you take a little tranny fluid and pour it down ther carb while its running and it will often un-stick a valve..but if i were guessing i would say your looking at a bad cam lobe....

With 270,000 plus on the clock I do not doubt anything. I am trying to keep an open mind though. I do not even know if there is indeed a dead cylinder. The compression test will tell me if I should go trough with a tune up, or a rebiuld.

I am actually hoping for the rebiuld. But I am broke right now so the truck will have to sit for god knows how long.

i hate to say it but my $$'s on the cam lobe....i hope its not..but thats what i'm thinking...i had the same problem with a 300 str8 6 i had....

I stick with AC Delco plugs and wires just because they lasted 100k, they should last another 100k. Why change something that already works?

I don't see Motocraft very much at all. The only parts store that carries my plugs&wires is O'Reilly.

Well, my compression tester is junk. It stopped working after the number one cylinder.

Isn't AC Delco a GM product? I have always thought that if I get a GM of any kind I would run AC Delco.

yup...its a gm product.....i'll tell ya a quick way to find the cylinder thats missing...just pull the plug wires off one at a time till you pull one that dont change the way its running and thats the bad one....

You can get it online cheaper but my local napa is quite often cheaper than other local parts stores. If they're not the cheapest at least they're the closest so the time and gas it saves me makes up the difference in price.
