Oil color is not always a good indicator of its condition. It will be interesting to see the results.

I know color isn’t a good indication of oil life. In a diesel the new oil turns black in the first day, just nature of the beast. My concern here is that my oil has never been this dark.

I understand that. I'm just saying that it's nothing to panic over. Get the results back and see what you have. That's all.

Any oil will turn black. Some oils may stay “clean” looking longer than others, but eventually they all will turn black. This is perfectly normal.

The black is carbon dissolved into the oil from gases escaping past the rings, a normal function of the engine. It show the engine oil is holding it in suspension.
