If all you are going to do is keep your stock power, a 10 bolt with a Detroit Tru Trac in it will be plenty.

Well, I do plan on a v8 swap...
I'll look for a 14 bolt
Well even a 10 bolt can handle a v8 swap. Unless you plan to get around the 600hp mark, a 10 bolt will be fine.

:werd:

No need for the extra weight of a 14b unless you plan on beating the living F*CK out of it with HUGE power and bigass tires IMO.

I can always start with the 8.5" I guess
There's things I plan on doing... And things I'll actually be able to do...
Eventually, I'll be supercharging the V8... But that's a couple years down the road.
I will be beating the piss out of it, though... Offroading, and all that stuff... But probably only with like 32" tires

I'll stick with the 8.5" until it breaks, in that case
And probably with a manual locker...
I wish there was reliable limited slip lockers :(

i know were you can get a 14 bolt FF for probly zip all, you just have to take the rust bucket attached to it. :D

i like the FF 14 bolt causes its so damn easy to work on, my favorite one to work on, aside from a ford 9". :dunno:

You know dennis there are a million ford trucks in this country with 9"ers hanging under them too...:dunno: you could always get axles made with the bolt spacing you prefure, there are hundreds of comapnies that specialize in modifying the 9"around.

Rust bucket, eh?

I'm kind of partial to not having to spend an extra $1000+ on a set of axles on top of a complete rear axle, so the Ford 9" is out of the question

Dennis, have you said what you're doing (or planning on) yet?

Knowing you, you won't tell until you have the parts and then you still won't say.

It's in the first post of the thread :dunno:

yes, either won`t tell or change his mind a couple thousand times, can`t blame him, i`m the same way.

But this time, you HAVE been told... And I've already started getting the parts

Wow!That's kind of rusty, gonna be a little work to clean it up :(

I've got time

I haven't decided if I'm going to paint it black, or color match to the truck

Sandblasting it might be an option...as long as you wrap the calipers in something

If I take them off, I'm good

I might just get brave and use a belt sander

Once you get it cleaned up I'd use some good BLACK Epoxy paint :)
