I won't be going excessively fast this time... Just going to be pulling a slightly heavier load than the nothing I'm usually moving...

What are you going to use the Suburban for???

Check out his parts compatibility thread in the general truck section.

Will do...thanks...

And this one!

Very cool...
I just read both threads...

On a side note... Anybody know if you can tow a GMT400 with two wheels on the ground?

If I can find a dolly instead of a trailer I'd be much better off... :dunno:

The reason for disconnecting the driveshaft is...the tranny has no front pump and you will destroy it if you pull it without taking the driveshaft out.

Would putting the t-case in neutral do the same thing? :dunno:

NO...
The driveshaft spinning the transmission will totally destroy it...internally..
There is no pump to circulate fluid in the transmission without the engine running.

Trannys used to have "TWO" pumps...Now they only have one...

:withstupid: Don't do it unless you take out the drive shaft. If you weren't towing it so far, I'd tow it from the rear with the front wheels on the ground. But 300 miles is to far for that.

But if the transfer case is in neutral... It's not turning the transmission, is it?
(I'm removing the driveshaft anyway... But I'm curious now...)

So if I take out front and rear driveshafts, I could tow it 4 wheels on the ground... :jester:

Thankfully, I don't need the interior of the truck to be in good shape... So I'll just toss the driveshaft in the 'burb...

Hopefully I can find a dolly

The u-haul one isn't big enough for it :(

To be honest... I don't really know how the transfer case works regarding the rear wheels.
But with the rear end turning...the driveshaft is turning and it will be spinning the output shaft of the tranny.

I would just take out the driveshaft and do it that way.
Then you "KNOW" the tranny is not spinning with no lubrication.
