My sister and her husband just bought a new 2008 Silverado 1500 4X4 with 17K miles on it, V8, not sure what size engine, but it does have the tow package, and leveling switch, (what does that do?), any insight would be appr. like things to look out for, known problem's, or anything like that.

These have been really solid trucks from everything I have read, seen, and experienced. Mine has been pretty much flawless so far and I just passed three years of ownership.

Some folks complain of balljoint issues (with some miles racked up) if the truck has been lifted in the front (leveled). I think early versions had a battery discharge issue but that was fixed early on.

Not sure what you mean by leveling switch. Leveling kit maybe? From the looks of those pics, it looks like it has been leveled.

From what I've read they are solid trucks. But that is a different model than mine so I won't add to much since I don't know first hand. BuckFeverZ and ElcompaLalo have them, they should give you some insight.
