I do agree there is a certain point when a vehicle has the right amount of power to make the owner happy and see good MPG results. Usually want to say around 400hp as less force on the motor that the truck has to use to get going. Than again who would stop at 400hp?
More power = better mileage... up to a point... Depending on the engine...
A 400 HP V8 will give good gas mileage in a 1/2 ton...
If I give my 4.3 400 HP it will NOT do good on gas...

That's why I love having my programmer. Most should offer a way to view instantaneous MPG. Doing this is a great way to monitor your driving habits if you want to improve gas mileage. I drove that way for quite a while, but then it got boring. I didn't buy this truck for the mileage.

I bought my truck to haul, pull, and drag things. Also I am tall and fullsized trucks fit me better. They are also "IMO" more reliable, tougher, safer, and easier to work on than a car.
Although mine does well on fuel thats not why I have it.

I have found the greatest gas saving device ever created. You can buy them at Lowes, Home Depot, and many other places. They are inexpensive (sometimes you can even find them for free!) and simple to install. And they will save you hundreds of gallons of gas (or diesel!) in a typical year.
It's called, "The Brick"
You go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy one of these, then take it out to your truck and wedge it under your accelerator pedal. Viola! It starts working immediately!
And, for those who would like to retain a bit more performance at the cost of slightly less fuel economy, they also sell the "Half Brick".
