I clean mine at least once a year, along with the throttle body.

Mine was a PITA to get out when I cleaned it and put in my CAI (also took off and cleaned the TB with CRC Throttle Body Cleaner).

On my truck (stock), it is between the 100 deg. elbow and the flex tubing. The hard part was getting the rubber up and over two ridges on the MAF; probably due to the age of the rubber and not wanting to co-operate. I used the smallest screwdriver I had. The metal housing got some scratches in it, but it does eventually come off.

I have not cleaned mine. I did install the Granatelli MAS and it didn't make a difference. This was back when I first got the truck and the tune. So I sold the Granatelli.

Anyone know the part number for the foam gasket that goes between the MAS and the air box? I cleaned my MAS and the gasket tore when I separated it from the air box. I have an 06 Silverado with the 5.3.
