G/f came home from a doctors appointment and said the A/C in the Dakota wasn't working. Since I put a brand new compressor in it just two years ago I wasn't thrilled with that news. Hooked up the gauges and there was no pressure either side, so obviously there was a leak. Got out the UV light (I added dye when I filled the system after changing the compressor) but couldn't see any spots so I started adding some 134a with more dye. Pressures started coming up but still no sign of a leak. Used up what was left in that can (about 3oz) and headed to Napa for more. Got two more 12oz cans and added one, then the second, but couldn't get pressures over 200/45. Shut off the engine and then I could hear the leak... Right at the connection for the condenser, where the orifice goes.
It'll have to wait now until next payday (Friday after next) since I need a new vacuum pump (my old one got knocked off the shelf by the cat and broke) to draw down the system, and more 134a. I have plenty of green O-rings for the system, so that's no sweat.
