DOH! Is this the first you've seen of the truck being gone?

It is for me, and I just read all the comments to catch up on. Dang, bummer to hear you aren't in a truck anymore but you did replace with a very tasteful vehicle, very nice! At least you were able to go brand new too.

My Silverado was killing me too, was about the cost of my mortgage, $700 payment, and $160 in gas per week at $4 a gallon, so yeah I know how it feels to need to ditch a truck for financial benefit. I got lucky enough to get another truck though, but I do need a truck :D

That was the last straw for me... I didn't really "need" the truck. I couldn't justify the extra $$ on payments, gas, insurance, etc.. It wasn't really that I couldn't afford to keep it. It was just that I couldn't justify it, when I had other things that were taking a higher financial priority..

Thanks for the compliment, man! I'm really liking it so far. I hadn't planned on an early Spring road trip, but I may figure out a way to squeeze one into the budget, to get some road miles on the car and see how she does in the mountains.

I may be back in a truck, at some point.. I am by no means saying I'm done with trucks. I just don't "need" one at this point in my life.. If I ever have a need for one, I have a lot more information now about what to look for (and look out for), as well as what can be "tuned out" of them, etc, etc.. :D

Yeah, I really didn't expect to get a deal done yesterday.. I figured we'd go back & forth for a few days and I'd have time to put everything back stock, clear out the nav address book, etc, etc..

I've got ANOTHER comment....

Darling Wife and I met him for supper tonight.

He has a very nice car and he took us for a ride in it.
It will grab 90 mph real quick...even with 3 people in it.
I like the way it runs.

But... "NOT ONE TIME" did he offer to let poor ol' Dad drive it.

NOT ONE TIME.... :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

Well, if it makes you feel any better Dark, cuz it won't me, but its a matter of having to do what you have to do. I let my 05 loaded leather ass warmers and all go for a Yota Rolla cuz of gas prices, and even though I was hooked up in the truck, I had to add the upside down to the payment fo the Yota, and I said hell NO. After I did the math and saw the differance in gas, and auto insurance, I thought, even with the added negative balance, I am better off cuz the car payment is almost free in the savings of gas and insurance. I had to do it. It sucked balls bad !!! So that is when I started collecing the 80's junk project trucks, jsut to have a truck, although not the best, it was still a truck., and it keeps me at home not spending money, since I stay home to work on the trucks.

That's very understandable. Thanks for sharing the story! I appreciate that!

Back around Christmas, I started looking at some things I'd like to do in 5 yrs, 10 yrs, etc. and I needed to free-up money in my monthly budget to start doing things with that money to grow it so that I can do those things..

There for a while, I was eating out (either fast food or sit-down) at least once a day, sometimes twice or three times a day.. I've cut fast food down to about once or maybe twice a week, if that.. Same goes for sit-down dining.. Actually, I've cut sit-down dining down to about 3 times a month.. I try to treat it more as something to do, rather than "I'm hungry and don't want to cook."

I've started shopping specials and stocking up on stuff when it's on sale. If pork is on sale and beef isn't, I eat pork for a while.. If chicken is on sell next time, I eat chicken for a while.. I cook at home a lot more, making batches of things when I can and freezing them for quick warm-ups for lunch, dinner, etc.. I spend more at the grocery store now than I used to, but I'm NOT wasting money on $1.89 large Cokes at Jack In The Box anymore...

I've trimmed my cellphone plan way down.. I'm figuring on getting just a cheap "it talks" phone, next go-around, instead of a nice phone with a data plan and all that jazz..

There's a ton of other things I've been nipping and tucking at...

Every little bit helps!

What about texting? :jester:

Your voice broke?? :jester:

EDIT : Actually, to answer that more seriously, I doubt you can buy a phone that "can't" text these days.. A cheap txt msg package would more than cover me, though.. In the last 7 days (since my billing cycle started), there have only been 55 messages in and out of my phone. 38 were for work. That leaves 17 that I had something to do with.. 10 of those were when I was bored at the car dealership yesterday.. I think I have a $10 txt package that more than covers me for the month.. The $40 / month for internet on the phone, though, is not a "necessary" expense... :dunno:
