X pipes flow a little better.

H pipe = more power in lower rpms and deeper exhaust tone.

X pipe = more power in higher rpms and a little higher pitch sound.

I prefer the x pipes on the 4.9's. I had one on a 91 4.9 Mustang I had and it sounded bad ass!

That said, yes an H pipe will work also.

It's a truck, low RPM power FTW!

All the H or X pipe actually does is equalize pressure between the sides. Technically, they are just crossover pipes. Both actually accomplish exactly the same thing. The X pipe looks better.

Like Darth said, sound can be affected. Not sure about the performance differences but it is certainly possible on different vehicles.

You won't know how it sounds until it's done.

Even if you take two of the same vehicle, it can end up with a different sound
