I have always been a fan of Haynes, but that is probably because we sold the crap out of them when I work at a parts house while I was in college.

I don't know that you can go wrong with either.

That looks cool. I never really thought about a DVD, maybe I will look into something like that. It looks like it covers a lot.

This one looks to be the Factory Service Manual. You can't do better than that!

Good find indeed Jim. I may just purchase one if I find a 2006 GMC one. For some reason I think it would be nice to have a book :dunno: Factory Service Manual FTW

GET THE FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL!!!

As a Mechanic who worked in the industry and have done work for friends that have both haynes and chilton manuals, when it comes to troubleshooting and diagnosing problems the factory manual IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO!!!!! So many times has those manuals steered us worng and cuase more downtime and cost in the end! I have the factory service manuals for my truck and there is NOTHING i can`t fix or troubleshoot easily, The GM manuals are by far the best in design for ease when working on your vehicle. I t makes everything easy, trust me. they are worth their weight in gold!!!!!

P.S. i hate those "other"manuals with vengance. :D

I agree about the Factory manual. If you can wait to get it do so. I was in a bind when I bought my Chiltons and couldn't wait. With the dvd you can print out the pages you need and carry them out to the truck. Do the repair and chunk the dirty pages when you're done working.

I prefer a file on my PC. You can reference it and print anything that might need. Normally, it just requires a quick read. I can load it on my laptop and take it to the vehicle if needed.

I always forget your truck is a GMC. The Silverado manual would address everything but front end sheetmetal.
