I've thought about trying this: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

It's pretty damn cheap and seems to be just like sound deadening material. I have it installed on my return and supply runs out in my garage and this stuff stays stuck.

This is what I used and it is definitely the most cost effective. It's not as good as the high-quality, but for the cost you can't beat it. I can't justify spending several hundred on deadener.

These are 6"x25' rolls for about $15 a piece.

That's about the same price as the stuff I listed. It runs $18.77 for a 12" x 15' roll. I'll have to go to Lowe's and take a little of my duct insulation with to compare them.

Right. I just realized the one you posted was a 15' roll.

The only thing about the Thermwell is that it's pretty thick to be used as a deadener (1/8"). I only put 2-3 layers of Peel-n-Seal inside my door panels and it was a tight fit getting them back on. Just something to keep in mind. If you use it let us know how it works!

I'm kind of digging it being a little thicker. How thick is the stuff you are using?

It's been a while since I've had my hands on it, but I just grabbed my calipers and estimated. It's probably about the same if not just a little thinner now that I see the calipers. Forget me, I'm getting old.

RAAMmat BXT: http://www.raamaudio.com/

$1.91 per sq. ft.

If I were to redo mine (no way unless it starts falling off) I would use RAAMmat. Since it still costs almost 2.5x as much per sq. ft. I went with the cheap stuff. I was on a college budget when I did it.

Little update: I'm getting some help from a few guys and am leaning towards going active. I'd love to have more control over everything and that may be a good way to do it.

I'd like to lose some road noise in my truck. Regular cab trucks get a fair amount from the back of the cab.
If you get-er-done there must be a write up. I am also interested in this.

You wouldn't wanna do this if you are trying to save weight, Carl. The asphalt based stuff is usually heavy. And the lighter weight sound dampenings are usually more expensive. :dunno:
