On a 1985 Chevy...454 big block...

What is the socket size for the plugs?
My neighbor has one that he can't get the plugs out of.
He can't get a socket to fit on the plugs.

I would go look at it, but it is 100 miles away ... down on his farm.

Any help and advice is appreciated.

Small plug motors use the 5/8 thin wall spark plug socket. Big plug heads use a 13/16 thin wall socket.

I thought that was the only two sizes.
At least that is the only two sizes I have ever seen.

He is about 75 years old and don't see too good any more.
He has been trying to get (as he says) the "REGULAR" spark plug socket on it and it won't go down on the plug far enough.
I am assuming he is using a 5/8th.

The way the manifolds are...you can't SEE...it all has to be done by "FEEL"

I will find my old 13/16th socket in the morning and loan it to him.

Thanks.

My '77 454 had 5/8 plugs,an '85 should too.The plugs(according to my Chilton) for the '85 are R44T and set at .045 gap.
