Thinking of buying a motorcycle

Why would you buy one for only a couple of weeks? It seems like you'd take a HUGE hit on depreciation doing that?

What year of Shadow? Brand new, or older?

They're definitely a solid bike, and even the 750s have decent power for highways and hills.

Mid to late 2000s, they switched to fuel injection, I think.

you definitely want fuel injection. less maintenance, less finicky to ride.

you definitely want fuel injection. less maintenance, less finicky to ride.

Less finicky, anyways... No real maintenance required, as long as you don't let them get gunked up, lol

I'd see if you can lean/lift a 750, though.... Once you get used to that 400, you'll be wanting more power for the highway.

If you're only going to use it for city commuting, the 400 will be good.

The 1100s are heavier... They weigh in around 580lbs, I think...

750 is around 525 - 550, I think.

If you can lean it off the kick stand with minimal effort, you'll be good.

There are many people out there that have their own hard and fast rules about it, but I think it is never too late. I got my first motorcycle at 7, and my first street bike at 18, so I might not be the right guy to ask about the down-side
