That's a lot closer than I am to it! :zembonez:

Going to do some searching down south... I'd imagine they're probably more common in places like Texas, and have less corrosion from salt.

Has anyone heard anything about 2500 Suburbans coming back in 2017 or 2018? They made the 3500s for fleet use this year.... I'm thinking I could get screwed if I seek out a "rare" suburban 2500 now, then they release the new ones and everyone trades in their 7 year old 2500s for the new model, making them less rare and dropping value

There are some 07-09 YDXLs with ~100k miles for under 20k. Might be worth swapping my Commander out for one of those, then keep an eye on the 2500s and have both. The YDXL will get better mileage and have more space than my Jeep, can handle OBX, and I can still get the 2500 eventually..... probably wasn't going to do much offroading with the jeep near term anyways....

I've heard rumors but I have not seen anything in stone.

I wouldn't hesitate on an 07-09 if the interior looks good. I believe most of the time you can tell how well a vehicle was maintained based off the interior.

If you plan to keep the Suburban 2500 'til 200k miles, what's it matter if the value drops "quicker" in the meantime? :dunno:

Believe me, I've been in the "ehhhh, I can get something else later to do that in" boat. I'm kinda there right now, if I'm 100% honest. BUT... I'm going to ask you a couple of questions an uncle recently asked me when I mentioned a particular scenario to him.

Can you afford to keep it?

Does it make you happy / bring a smile to your face (when you use it the way it's intended)?

If both of those are yes, keep what makes you happy.

Oh, yeah! I did some searches and I'm not seeing anything promising about a 17/18 Suburban 2500.

I don't know if the link will work (this computer won't let me use the insert link button) but here's one in Dallas.

If you wanted a 1500, I know a guy selling a '12 with 33k miles here locally...looks brand new!

I saw that one in Dallas... has a bit much done to it which always makes me question previous owners reason for selling.

Is the 2012 a Denali XL??? :)

For value dropping, it only matters in the sense that I won't be towing this year, and maybe next year at the earliest. So if I don't need the tow capacity yet, it might be worth waiting.

The Jeep vs YDXL is as complicated as choosing between the hot crazy bitch who's a freak in bed and the good looking nice chic who's dependable all around.... not an easy answer.

Gotcha! If it were me, I would probably wait until closer to time for "needing" it for towing. You never know what other options might come along. :dunno:

I'm guessing the Jeep is the crazy one.. If you can, see if there's some way you can keep 'er around.

Lol yeah, those crazy ones are good for some quick fun every now and then

I do need either a YDXL or 2500 for next summers planned vacation. We'll have 7 + cargo going to the northern tip of OBX.

That's why I'm thinking of swapping the Jeep for an older YDXL. It'll take care of what I need over the next few years (as discussed earlier in the thread), and allow me to shop around for the harder to find 2500.... or maybe realize I don't need the 2500.

It's great not being in a rush though. I can shop around for a YDXL, and if I happen to come across the right one, go for it.
