I keep getting a CEL popping up very often now and every time I connect my scanner is says Bank 1 and Bank 2 knock sensors low input. Does this mean I need to replace the knock sensors?
This same code was coming on about a year ago, and I happened to actually "accidentally" get rid of it by adding a bottle of Amsoil PI to my fuel tank. The code stopped coming up after I burned through that tank of fuel. So I tried it again, and this time the code isn't going away.
Thoughts? :dunno:
By the way, this is on my 2001 5.3 Suburban.

I would think so Scotty, with the mileage on the vehicle they probably are shot.

Input low is an open circuit. Failed sensor or harness issue.

Thanks. I'm just not looking forward to having to pull that intake off. But with my truck being 15 years old now, more shit is starting to go bad now so I guess that to be expected. :dunno:
I guess if I replace them, I may as well put a new harness in as well. Didn't someone on here do a detailed write up on replacing the knock sensors. I'm thinking it was either Jarrod or Dan.

Yes, replace the harness. Replacing them is easy. I did it with a torn and broken shoulder. ...Just took 4 hours.

If ya were closer I'd lend a hand.

So I take it I should be able to knock it out then. How heavy is the intake? I doubt its over 20 lbs. I'm STILL healing from my spine surgery several months ago and I can't really lift over 20 lbs ,especially if I'm in a bent over position like leaning under the hood.

And thanks for that link Nick!

The intake is plastic so it shouldn't be that heavy. :)

Thanks. I figured it was fairly light, but not sure how heavy it would be with the throttle body and stuff still attached to it. Forgive my ignorance, but Ive never replaced one so I have no clue. :dunno:
