Ask the guy standing there in your shoes who can actually see the shaft, and see what he thinks. If the shaft isn't bent, you might ask him to move the tubing back and out of the way and see if that helps.
You might have to ask him a few times to get him to understand, but I bet he'll help.
The shaft just sees twist, t'd be pretty hard to bend it unless you hit it with something. Maybe a bolt on the rack is loose and pushed it over a little? I'd imagine you'd **** up a tie rod doing that way before you'd do anything to the column.
I'm dropping it off at the dealer tomorrow.. I just got back from sitting in the sun for 5 days. And I made sure I had a warranty for this exact situation.
