Considering a new look.

Here's my thought process. I would really love to buy a new 4x4, but I love my truck and its paid for. Not to mention I would almost never use the front 2 wheels to power the thing 99% of the time. So, I'm thinking about sticking a leveling kit on the front of mine, putting the stock wheels back on with a set of cooper zeon ltz tires, and upsizing the tires one size.

Thoughts? I know it's poser, but most 4x4s that are jacked up never see the off road. Some of us lower 4 wheel drives. It's really about the look.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
Personally, I don't know why anybody south of Mason-Dixon buys a 4x4, unless it's a vehicle to go off-roading. Like a trail rig. not something to take to the mall.

Hell, I survived for 25 years without 4x4 in an area that sees alot of snow and ice. :dunno:

Go full poser and throw in a body lift but don't do anything to the bumpers.

My last three vehicles have all been 4x4. Its come in handy a few times plus it helps resale and doesn't seem to do much to my insurance. Win-win as far as I can tell.

I say go for it.

I wouldn't put a bunch off off-road lights and custom bumpers on it or anything, but it'll look great either way. You will want to install some air bags though fo anytime you haul with that front end being up higher.

The air bags are part of the reason I started thinking about this. I changed my airbags to a heavier duty bag a while back (they have a bumper so they can run airless). These new bags did not work with my leveling shackles so I had to go back to stock rear ride height. I hate the rake.

Next questions...

Any leveling kit recommendations?

What are thoughts on a 275/60/20 Cooper Zeon?

Or should I just stick with a 275/55?

I had the Rough Country lower block kit and it worked just fine, but they've changed it since then. As for the tires, my suggestion would be to go around the net and find pictures of both sizes with wheels with the right offset, determine which one you like the most, then start digging around for known issues.
