I think they did good with the powertrain and all, but it was the body and little stuff they have to work on. Too many small issues that shouldn't have made it into the design.

Like the tailgate. Its a truck. Build it to haul stuff, not look pretty.

Wow. I wonder what this really means. Are they going to stop production in the next couple of years or are they just going to slow down their development cycle?

I haven't been able to find the article I read yesterday, but I was left with the impression that they were looking at fewer model variations, not an out-right cancellation. :dunno:

I see where Toyota is trying to make a good business decision to go back to their core value. This is good for them, as the gas sippers/hybrids are the money makers. Gas prices will once again soar, its a matter of time. When it does, Toyota will be there to make the sales.
They do need to see that they are new to the full size market, and should not expect to be #1 in the short time they have been in it. If I were Toyota, I'd just slow down production and hold on to what they have. I am not a Tundra fan, but those trucks are no slouch. Though I have not seen any that tow decent loads. If I had the time, I'd show up with a loaded down trailer at the dealer and see how it pulls.

Tundra sales numbers are not too shabby. They definitely will not beat the F series nor the Silverado, but they are not too far behind from the rest.

I completely agree. I remember looking at one at an autoshow. The second I opened the tailgate I looked to my dad and said that it was going to be the first thing to break on a job site. Honestly it would get on my nerves.:dunno:

The build them here. I still don't see that many on the roads though.

Toyota WILL NOT leave the truck business. They sell the living crap out of their Tacoma (all over the globe). It is easily the best selling midsize truck here in the states and it is very well built.
