Brian, I knew you were a GM guy, but I never realized you were such a hard core fanboi.

It doesn't take a genius to see that the current generation GM pick-up trucks are an abomination. Some of you drinking that GM kool-aid might deny it, but even GM doesn't. They are working their asses off to stay competitive with Ford and RAM at the moment. I have only seen about 4-5 new GM pick-up trucks in my area since they went on sale. Everything else is dominated by Ford and RAM. Who would've thought RAM would make a better truck than GM (aesthetically and mechanically)?

I'll leave you guys with two interior pictures from top of the line Ford and GM trucks. One debuted in 2008, and the other, 2013. Which looks dated?

Gotta love how they ditched their "simple" and "car-like" interiors for a more boxy and truck like design from none other than Ford.:loser:
Or you could post a picture of a 2008 Chevy Silverado. The LT dash might help in what you're saying but if you posted a photo of a LTZ dash, it'll make you look dumb and what you are trying to say irrelevant.

But hey, everyone has an opinion and they are entitled to hit.

So is the new Silverado an abomination in your mind and everyone else's?

I don't know if you know but Ram is seeing huge sales gains from last year while Ford is in a bit of a dip. They are reporting a 4-6% drop in sales from last year. This has helped RAM gain some ground on Ford. The F150 will be coming out with a new truck with a aluminum build later this year, I think. That should help with their sales dip but I wonder if it will deter some sales or not...

If the current Silverado from last years release was an abomination, in reality I would expect to see decline in sales. They currently have a gain from last year of 8.5% in sales. :dunno:

So you can either have a ECoboost that has a $1000 increase in engine cost(really isn't that bad) but the only perk is more power... Ford missed the mark on their fuel mileage claims. They've been seeing lawsuits for engine shutters/shutoffs and lying about the fuel mileage. Its no lie that you can get great fuel mileage with the Ecoboost if you limit the turbo spooling by conservative driving. It also has major complaints about "oil burning"...

Or Silverado, with AFM. I don't know where the 6.2 compares to the Ecoboost, I'm sure the ford spanks the gm with all that torque but many are reporting fuel mileage as high as 29 on the highway. I find it hard to believe myself that its really that high but I do believe that GM did what they set out to do with building efficient engines.

If you don't like the two options above, just buy a ram! I don't know much about them and though, everything has changed in the last 5-7 years. I still see a little bit of the Old Dodge in them and not the new Fiat.

All that being said: back in the day, we checked oil in our trucks every day. If tomorrow, I had a new light duty truck in my driveway of any brand I'd be checking that oil regularly. Especially with the prices you pay for them these days.

I don't know if its the overall shock people get when they don't check their oil and they find there is a quart missing or if its the complaint of having to add a quart here and there. :dunno:

I've been checking oil weekly in Diesels since 2007 and later. If I have to add a quart here and there its a way of life for Diesel owners. Though, I can make it on oil until the OLM gets low and then I'm adding a quart or less to get me to my next oil change. If that's the case with half tons, and its because of fuel saving strategies... Well its a no brainer, I'd rather add some oil every 3-5k and not burn tons more fuel.

I don't know about you but those stupid chrome surround circular air vents make me want to punch a baby. But to each their own. :D2

Brain, look at market share, not year over year sales data. THAT is a better indicator.

GM is losing market share.

That photo is a new Silverado LTZ...it looks like a cartoon abomination, even next to the Ford which hasn't seen a major redesign in years.

We all get that you love GM Brian...that doesn't mean everyone else HAS to agree with you. Long-winded rants aimed at anybody who doesn't bow down to the bowtie are not helping change minds, nor are they going to draw or keep new members to this site. Worship your brand on your own time, and quit beating everyone else up with it.

At least the Chevy Z71s don't have plasti-wood, a trend that should die already.
