TMC 2013 NASCAR CHAMPION,
Well the last few months I've been reworking the ol 64 GMC's appearance a little. First off I tore the front clip off of her and pulled the engine for a refresh. In the process I found my bad oil pressure problem. Crank needed turn down main bearing were shot! If some of you remember this engine had less then 1000 miles on it before some one wrapped the 80 Chevy around a poll. Then it sat with no air cleaner for about a year before I bought the engine. I had to break it free and we just ran it with good luck up until the last 3 months it was in my ol girl. Well while I had the front clip off I was able to talk a friend out of the 66 Chevy he had sitting around that had caught fire from a bad fuel line under the hood. This cab was in way better shape rust wise then my original GMC cab. This one still has great rocker and corners and no rust above the windshield ( mine was rusted completely on the old cab I had to do a lot of work and bondo). This cab all I had to do was repair a spot on the drives side floor because it wasn't welded very good from the factory.
So the last few months when it was warm enough for me to work on it in my heater less garage I've been doing a little here and there. Put the new cab on at engine back in. Found perfect inner fenders that had no rust what do ever on them. A perfect radiator support and new support mounts. Went to put my ol fenders back on and they were way off. The reason I think is cause I patched them with the old cab and the radiator support still had the old mounts. They were way smaller then my new ones. So I decided to use the original fender the were with the 66 Chevy. They needed much less repairs then I had done to my first set. I also removed the dash from the Chevy cab and removed my GMC dash and moved it over to the new cab. Reprinted the inside a cast iron grey and black.
I have since redone the bed body work and straighten the cab (what dents there was) repaired the fenders and hood. Last weekend I finished getting the whole thing in primer. All I have left it wet sand and find anything I want to fix. Then the ol girl is goin blitz black with the same cast iron color top I painted the inside and engine. I can't wait for a few warm days. But before I paint mine I have to paint the neighbor jeep if he gets it ready before I just say **** it and paint mine. I also keep the filler neck in the cab but it just a dumby one for the original look. I will be blocking it off so no one will **** with it. Lol.
Here is a few pics.
