Golf courses use reel mowers for a reason. They do provide the best cut. It's a true sheer, not a "whip".

I would love to own a mower like that. I have a 2-3 year plan to get into a new house with an acre or so. Maybe then I'll pull the trigger on one.

For now I have to go with something less expensive and gets less grass in my beer. My friends from south of the boarder sure don't like me trying to ride around on their backs and steering them though.

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
You should have waited. Hustler Raptor is going to sold at Lowes and Home Depot here soon.

Hustler Mowers Being Sold at Lowes and Home Depot

The Raptor is an entry-level residential mower - Exactly what I wasn't looking for.

True. Im sure they are going to sell other models down road if you just wait it out. You have come bought Craftsman hydrostatic 54in mower for $800 while your waiting.

So, this is the sage advice you offer? Instead of buying what he wanted (he wasn't complaining about the purchase) he should wait, and hopefully acquire a reliable used piece of equipment which will further depreciate, but hopefully require no additional cost (meanwhile, still not what he wants) and hope that eventually the local box store will come out with something similar to what he really wants?

That is epic planning. Bravo, sir.

I called the dealer earlier and they are going to cancel the purchase. I hope whatever mower I get from Home Depot this Fall can handle the hay field that will be my yard.

I'd just get a herd of sheep :dunno:
