*Cough* LS Swap *Cough*

Idk if the truck is in that great of shape to spend that kind of money. I am looking for a grandfathers truck.. that has around 100K or so.. and is flawless.. I have cash im just poaching.

I have fallen in love with the GMT400 Platform... I really want a lifted.. straight axle swapped LS truck... but gotta find the cream puff to do so with.

This one needs paint and has some dents.... seats need love and other parts.

But yes... looking to go there sometime.. haha.
Who says you have to spend lots of money?!?! lol Go grab a 4.8/5.3 out of the junk yard for a couple hundred bucks and tinker around with it.

I actually found a NICE write up on how to swap in a 5.3, just haven't tried to go there yet. hahahah.

I've added a couple of do-dads recently you might be interested in.I added a trans temp gauge(with sensor in the pan) and an aux. battery. The battery is mainly to power the winch but also have the two cheapy off-road lights connected to it as well. When I get the time I'm going to connect the CB there as well. All this in an effort to be able to use certain things without worrying about running the main battery down. The trans temp gauge speaks for itself.

I have been thinkin of doing this as well... I wanna hook my air setup in this truck to fill tires and run tools in case of an emergency. Where did you mount your battery at?

I was lucky and found an early '90s one ton dually 454 at a Pick A Part with all the parts needed. It had the tray, the charcoal canister relocation bracket, the solenoid & all the wiring necessary.Like I said,I got lucky. Some fabbing was necessary for the tray mounting bolts but was easily done.

Brian, that storage box next to the PCM can be removed & the battery tray from a diesel truck can be put in it's place.I noticed a batt. tray in Grumpy's burb which gave me the idea for this upgrade.

Ok,I'm done now :jester:

All this for about $20

That's going to require some coin!

Wheels are around 400-800 in that size each depending on brand.

Those 40x22 toyos are $700.00 a piece...

The ORD straight axle kit is $800.

Dana 60 rebuilt I would figure around a $1000.00 once all parts replaced.

Springs $500

Brake lines - $200

Shocks - $400 or so depending brand.

Yeah it aint cheap.

Wish I had the cash. =(

Yeah, I do like that storage box tho!! Holds a funnel, oil and rags. LOL.

I was thinking maybe doing a battery in a battery box in the toolbox?
