Hey guys aint been around for awhile, college keeps me well busy. Hope everyone is doing good! I'm having a problem with a system I installed. I can put up pictures tomorrow if anyone thinks it will help. I put together a 760w Pioneer Amp (GM-5100T) and a Kenwood 12 (KFC-W3012) in an Atrend box. All a little bit older equipment (besides the box) and bought all new wires. Got everything hooked up and mounted my amp on the back wall behind the seat. Everything sounded great then drove home from school this weekend and it just stopped. Ive double checked every single wire and replaced all speaker wire involved and still no luck. The Amp lights up and everything and all seems well, at low (and I mean low) I can get a little response from the sub, but if I turn it up nothing but a clicking/popping sound and it seems to be rhythmic. Ive been doing some research but I can't find anything conclusive to the problem. If anyone has any ideas as to what it might be, amp too small for the rms of the sub, or anyways to troubleshoot if either are blown, etc. Thanks a bunch:cheers:

Start by trying a new amp, if you are home try asking a friend to borrow one just to test quickly to rule that out.

That amp should have plenty of power to run the sub. Are you sure the sub isn't toast?

Before trying a new amp, try an other speaker you have, but turn the gain down on the amp first so you don't blow it.

The sub could be toast. I never turned the gain up though, only like a quarter of the way up, i wasnt abusing anything thats why it seems so odd

Did you buy the sub as new old stock or has it been sitting around in your garage for a while? You mentioned it being older and speakers left in the wrong conditions for too long can certainly go bad.

I bought it from a friend who was in a pinch and needed some money, I bought it for 30 bucks so im just hoping its the sub rather than the amp, it just seems so odd, Ive never seen a system react like this, especially not from a blown sub

Are you running the sub and amp at the same ohms? One sub with the amp bridged? Did you set the gain before the sub clipped?

I had the sub bridged. I just tested it and removed the sub from the enclosure and it smelt burnt so I think the sub is done. what would cause the sub to burn up like that? was the amp indeed too small?
