Does lowering a pickup truck tailgate improve fuel economy?

I removed the trunk lid from our Jetta and picked up 8 MPG.

Unfortunately that is a very predictable dilemma in VW land. Just be VERY glad you don't have a 1.8T

What a POS. Buy a Tahoe

Took it in for an SES being triggered by a bad secondary air pump pressure sensor. I took it in on the 8th knowing our extended warranty was expiring on the 13th and mentioned an intermittent issue with the driver's window and that I saw a leak under there when I changed the oil recently.

Got a call the next day saying the leak was the tranny and that whatever it is can't be resealed and requires replacement. The warranty company is covering everything and I get to pick it up tomorrow. There's a separate 12m/12K mile warranty on it.
