60-62 mph does not seem "real world" to me...jeez, it would take a month of Sundays to cross Texas that slow. :(
Sounds like GM needs to do some more tweaking with the transmission and this particular powerplant and one wonders if they will include a manual option someday.
But...it's a start and it may give VW some competition.

Well most of the speed limit in PA is still 55 and some 65 but not much that I'm aware of, at least the part the mom lives in anyways. I agree it isn't real world 100%. My jetta gets 50mpg but I have to keep it at the old double nickle.

I wonder what mileage it would get on Texas interstates with 75 and 80 mph speed limits ??

It's not heaven . . . it's Iowa!
Plot twist, it has a 300 gallon tank! :jester:

Seriously though, I really hope some of this diesel stuff takes off. I know some people don't like it, but it really has some merit :)

I'm not necessarily against diesel, just the fact that they charge out the ass for them and gas costs more. Combined they negate a lot of the increased mileage.

We are on our 2nd X5 with a diesel and we love it. The low end torque is addictive. It works great in a heavy SUV.

The '10 we had would get 32-33mpg on the interstate at 75-80. I haven't paid any attention to the fuel mileage in the one we have now though.

I'm curious to see how the Cruze with a diesel sells.

What does the cost of gas matter when you own a diesel? Lolz
D2 is about the same as premium gas around here. So it didn't matter to me cause I ran premium in the old F150 anyway.

The up charge is ridiculous though, you are very correct.
