Taking it one modd at a time....
Hey guys,
I'm really thinking about doing gears in my truck. Number one when I did my bearings I found quite a bit of debris, bits of gear teeth, etc. and number 2 I want to unlock some of the low end on my truck again. Right now I have 3.55 in my Ford 8.8 in front and rear. I was thinking about upgrading my limited slip while I was in there too. My truck came stock with 255/70/17's and I am currently running 295/70/17's. I was thinking of going with 4.11. I think that would be a nice upgrade and make up for the larger tires. I believe I'll leave this job to the professionals because I have the lack of time, and I don't want to risk me messing something up with something this expensive on my daily driver. Here is what I am thinking of going with...
http://www.amazon.com/High-performa...UTF8&colid=1Q61SEMR9XGPD&coliid=IKLMWPIXAA1I0
Amazon.com: High performance Yukon Ring & Pinion gear set for Ford 8.8" Reverse rotation in a 4.11 ratio: Automotive
Amazon.com: Detroit Locker 913A561 Trutrac Differential with 31 Spline for Ford 8.8": Automotive
Since I am fairly new to the gear world, as far as picking a setup for my truck, I was wondering if I could have some of y'alls input. Will all this work together? I know I would need a new instal kit and I plan on keeping the stock axle shafts. But I was thinking of ordering this stuff and taking it to whoever I get to do the instal and let them get the rest. Any brands that would be better over another? Thanks for all the help!
