Hi all i kno i haven't been around to much lately but i got a problem with my 1996 chevy tahoe. Tonite the gf was goin to run up to the store to get some stuff for supper and she started the tahoe. It started up just fine, but after it started the starter keep trying to ingage after it had already started. Then she shut it off and pulled the key and it tryed starting by it self a few time then it finally quit.? I call a local mechanic he said to try pulling the starter relay after i start it to see if it doesnt stop. Well it didn't. He said he thinks i need a new ignition switch.

So i guess my question is do you guy think its the ignition switch? Have you heard of this before?

And NO it does not have remote start. Never has never will.

Has to be the ignition switch unless you have a 12v circuit shorting to the solenoid circuit, somehow.

It is odd that the start relay didn't kill the problem.

Hey i talked to the local mechanic again this morning. He is Sure it the switch. I guess 270k is just to many miles for the switch??:dunno::lol:

Well the good news is now that i manage a parts store i get a good discount! In standard brand that switch is $177 but with my dicount i get it for $109!! so guess what ill be doing today!!:dunno::lol:

Oh and i have to go put tires on the nissan today also! $72 each so there goes another $144. :( I told the one boy that drives it that was his christmas present!!

Oh well i guess i'll let you guys know how it goes and if that fixes the problem.

It's sad i guess that i told the gf thats the most reliable vehical we have right now is a 1964 gmc pickup!!

The 95 nissan (240k miles) needs tires on the front. Cords are showing on the passanger side. her son drives it and only time i can look at is while its home for that 2 mins a day!! but it's getting them put on after i get off work at 1. But i got to take it to dighton for the tires 23 miles away. (cheeper then in town) (buddy discount)

The tahoe (270K miles) well you know what i got to do to it today.

The 64 gmc hope in turn key fires right up, put it in gear and go. at 8 mpg!!:crackup:I plain on fixing that. Maybe a rear gear chance or tires? :dunno: I'm running 255/60/15 on the rear with 3:55 rear gears.. I might find some 235/75/15 and see how that changes??
