My guess would be the promise of more money thrown at them for research & development.

I, too, find it odd, though, since they have won TWO championships since SHR has been in existence. Why the heck would you screw with what is working?? So, it has to be about the money.

But, I thought Tony was stupid for getting rid of a crew chief who was obviously working well for him, the year he won the championship. I always kind of expected "something more" was going on behind the scenes in that decision that just never came out.
