OK, if the owner is trying to make it right...see what you can do. I will tell you you won't regret getting into a K2xx. They are fantastic.

I was actually thinking about getting into a new crew cab Silverado. I've been driving one for about two weeks now while the wife's car is in the shop getting repaired. I like these new 2015 trucks. So I actually went out and started looking at prices on some, and they are still a bit out of my price range unless I can get a bigger down payment.
But I honestly am thinking twice about a pickup now since taking a grocery shopping trip with the kids,
My wife didn't want to put the groceries in the bed in this 100+° heat, so they were literally all piled up in the back seat all over and on top of the kids. I have been wanting a CC truck for years, but I'm honestly applied now to having a Suburban. I don't think I could get a pickup now. :dunno:
We have realized that we actually USE the rear cargo area of the Suburban a LOT, and its much better having it closed in and air conditioned, and the third row seat comes in handy too. The third row is rarely used, but it does get used when we go somewhere with other peoples kids with us. So I think the only way I'll be getting a new truck is if I get a newer Suburban. And with the 2015 Suburbans now upwards of 54k dollars  I doubt I'll be getting one any time soon.Maybe in a few years I can afford a used one. :dunno:

Yep. Once I started pricing Tahoes and Burbans, we were like WTF? Thats a Chevy, not a Escalade. But I could get a 2015 Silverado for about $37k plus ttl optioned like I wanted it. That was the best deal they quoted me. :dunno:
I didn't realize that all the new trucks had 4 full doors until I actually looked at them on the lot. The ex cab trucks just have shorter rear doors than the actual crew cab trucks. I would have to get a crew with at least a 5.3 engine if I got one.

Exactly! I know they're selling a ton of 'Hoes and Yukons. But, MAN, those things have gotten expensive compared to what I "feel" they should cost.

Yeah, the four full doors is one reason I got the double cab truck instead of a crew cab. That's enough room for Anna and the double-cab comes with the "standard bed," not the "short" bed.. It's not an 8 ft bed, of course. But, it gives me a little more room back there, if needed.

Now that I've had the double-cab standard box truck for a month (heck, even after a couple of weeks), the crew cab short boxes "look funny" to me now. I know there's not a lot of difference in length, but the short beds look "too" short to me now.. :dunno:

They do offer the crew cab standard beds, though. So, if I had "needed" a bigger back seat, I probably would've looked around for a crew cab w/ the standard bed.

Yeah, the rental we are in right now is a crew. And with me driving and the seat moved back, you really need a Crew to have any legroom at all back there. So the crew cab is a must for me and my family IF we were to even switch from a Burbans to a truck. And bed length isn't really too important to me. I'm not a contractor working out of my truck for a living, so I will not be haulimng lumber or building materials on a regular basis. Speaking of which, my Suburban is actually versatile in that area as well. I çan remove the third row seat, and fold the second row flat, and then I can haul sheets of 4ftx8ft plywood or drywall and close the back door with no problem at all. That was actually VERY helpful one day getting some plywood from Lowes when it started raiñing. I pulled up under the Contractor canopy end and !loaded up, and then unloaded under my carport out of the weather. I can also haul10ft sticks ofn trim if I let them sit on top of the center console and reach almost to the dash. I've also hauled some lumber on my roof rack before (which I keep forgetting that I even have until I need to haul long objects like ladders or lumber. I hauled 16ft long pieces of wood lap siding on the roof rack. They did stick out forward over my hood, but they were bundled together so it wasn't a problem. Hauling 16ft lumber ina pickup can be a challenge unless you have an 8ft bed with a ladder rack, or if you have a trailer.
So with all the pros and cons laid out between the difference between a Burban and a Crew cab, I think the Burban has more Pro's for my family. :dunno:
Itd probably be a different story if I hunted more, but a rarely hunt now. And when I do, I can put my deer on a hitchmounted cargo carrier, or else quarter it in the field and put the ice chest in the back of my Suburban but not before laying down a tarp to catch any mess. So far, that's worked out for me, I've done that many many times.

Yeah, your pro and con list makes sense. It's pretty much always "just me" in the truck, so I don't give a flip about how big the back seat area is. It is nice to have a backseat for Anna. But, that and putting stuff back there when I'm traveling is about all I need the backseat for.

They wouldn't get off 41,000 down here. Of coarse it was the 4x4 though. A guy that works for me told me today that he knows some people at a dealership in north Baton Rouge that could give me a deal. I didn't think much of it but the crazy old welder came through and the dealership called me this evening. First about a used truck, then told me they could get me a 2015 double cab 4x4 in the lower $30,000's. Looks like I have a date Saturday in Baton Rouge!!!

Corey, that will be a v6 work truck with 4x4 for that price, trust me.
If you have not checked Ross Downing Chevrolet in Hammond, they usually have some of the best deals in the state. Looking their website and get in touch with one of their internet sales guys. Get him to give you a price on what you want. Tell him you can do better in Texas. Make him make it worth it to drive to Hammond, tell him that. They will go down as much as possible. If you know you already qualified for a certain interest rate, keep that in mind. But don't tell them that. Just get the actual price of the truck as low as you can. THEN go in there and make a deal. If a guy asks "how much note can you afford each month?" Then he is just trying to see how much he can make off of you. Make the deal FIRST, then work out the financing part.
EDIT: I just looked on their site. They have 2015 Double cab LT with a 5.3 for $30,575 but that's a 2wd. And a Crew cab is 32k so I'm guessing you can get a 5.3 in 4wd for under 33k easily at Ross Downing. Unless you want leather and all the bells and whistles.
